The City of Broken Arrow is the fourth largest city in the state and provides various services to an estimated population of 125,000 spread out over 63 square miles.

Cart-based trash and recycling curbside services are currently provided to residential customers once per week.

Pickup Time

• Customers are encouraged to set carts at the curb by 6 a.m. on your service day. 
• Routes may not run at the same time each day. The exact time of service depends on many factors including refuse volume, available staff, and available equipment. The day of service is guaranteed, not the time. 
• Solid Waste & Recycling employees begin work at 6 a.m. and continue until all routes are completed. In the summertime, this may be as late as 9 p.m. In the rare event that routes cannot be completed, crews will resume the route where they left off the next morning.
• Service is provided on city-observed holidays except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's days.

Items City Crews Do Not Pick Up

• Hypodermic syringes, needles and other objects used or intended for use in injecting or removing any substance into or from the human body that are not in the proper type of container. If you do not have the proper container, contact your medical provider. For further information, see Section 12-26(a), Code of Ordinances, City of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
• Roofing, materials and/or wood from remodeling, privacy or other fencing. (*See note below.)
• Bags of dirt, rocks or concrete. (*See note below)
• The City will not pick up hazardous waste of any type, including but not limited to: oil, liquid paint of any kind, batteries, tires, gun ammo/powder, fuel or propane tanks, bio-hazardous waste and similar items that pose a potential hazard to human health and safety or to the environment.

Please keep in mind that the 96-gallon carts have a 336 pound weight limit. In addition, if there are items sticking out of the cart, it makes the container hard to maneuver and can interfere with emptying the cart into the truck.

If a cart is too heavy or has items in it that prevent us from tipping the cart, it may not be serviced.

For large debris removal or removal of items that do not fit in your cart, please use our bulky pickup service.

Rate Schedule

The City of Broken Arrow reviews and updates its service rates and fees annually as part of its Manual of Fees. Green Waste

Broken Arrow residents have multiple ways to dispose of green waste (leaves, grass clippings, tree limbs):

• Curbside
  • Residents may place a combination of up to 20 clear bags (30 gallon size or less) and/or 1x4 tied bundles of green waste at the curb on your service day, free of charge. 
  • Bags larger than 30 gallons will be counted as 2 regular trash bags.
  • Green waste disposed of in anything other than a clear bag will be deemed trash and the resident will be charged accordingly for extra trash bags.

• City of Tulsa Mulch Site
  • Residents may use at their expense the City of Tulsa's Mulch Site located at 2100 N. 145th E. Ave.. Gate rates for green waste are set by the City of Tulsa. The Tulsa Mulch site accepts tree limbs, grass clippings, and leaves. Items not accepted are root balls or trees with foreign materials, rock, pipe, lumber or treated wood, trash, dirt or building materials.
  • Patrons can also pick up firewood and wood chips. A cutting area is available but you must bring your own saws.
  • Hours of Operation:
    • Monday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday: Closed
    • Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Sunday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Bulky Pickup
  • Green waste that is too large to be bagged or bundled may be disposed of by scheduling a bulky waste pickup.

Please note: Green waste should not be placed in your recycling cart.

Dead Animals

If you see a deceased animal on the side of the road, please call Solid Waste & Recycling at 918-259-6570 and specify the location of the animal that is obstructing traffic. You may also call us for assistance in the disposal of a deceased pet. Deceased pets will need to be bagged and placed at the curb for pickup.
