Voters Approve Funding for Public Safety, Streets
On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, City of Broken Arrow voters overwhelmingly approved renewal of the expiring Vision 2025 sales tax to hire more police officers, firefighters and fix Broken Arrow roads.
The two propositions will replace the existing Vision 2025 sales tax, so there will be no tax increase in Tulsa County. The Wagoner County portion of Broken Arrow will see a slight tax increase of 55 hundredths of a penny ($0.0055).
Establish a sales tax of three tenths of one penny ($0.003) to hire additional police officers and firefighter/paramedics; as well as fund the acquisition and replacement of public safety vehicles, equipment, technology and apparatus.
Establish a sales tax of twenty-five hundredths of one penny ($0.0025) for the purposes of improving, constructing, and maintaining city streets, sidewalks, and related stormwater appurtenances, including the installation of traffic control devices and signalization.
The revenue generated from the renewed Vision 2025 sales tax will remain in Broken Arrow to benefit Broken Arrow residents. The City will hire 20 new police officers and 20 new firefighters, purchase public safety equipment and improve streets and sidewalks. The annual estimated revenue is $7.2 million.
September 2015 - New Program Helps Voters Make Informed Decision
Broken Arrow City Manager Michael Spurgeon announced a new way for residents and businesses to learn how the Vision 2025 Renewal will affect City services.
On November 10, residents will be asked to renew the existing Vision 2025 sales tax, to fund the hiring of 20 new police officers, 20 new firefighters and improve streets and sidewalks throughout the community.
Starting in October, the City will host two public education sessions that show what public safety and streets employees do every day.
“There’s no better way to make an informed decision than by learning how the City operates on a day-to-day basis,” said Spurgeon. “Residents will be able to talk to police officers and firefighters about their roles in keeping the City safe. Residents will see what it takes to maintain and repair our streets. I encourage as many people as possible to go behind the scenes and see who and what keeps Broken Arrow running.”

August 2015 - Special Election on Tuesday, November 10 for Vision 2025 Renewal
The Broken Arrow City Council approved a resolution calling for a November 10 special election, to ask Broken Arrow voters to permanently renew a majority of the Vision 2025 sales tax in Tulsa County. The revenue would be used to hire more police officers and firefighters, as well as fix streets in Broken Arrow.
