Homeowners associations (HOAs) are organizations within residential neighborhoods that help maintain community standards and manage shared amenities or common areas. HOAs are typically governed by a board made up of residents and operate under a set of rules and regulations known as covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs).

In Broken Arrow, HOAs may oversee responsibilities such as neighborhood maintenance, landscaping of common areas, community pools, signage, and architectural guidelines. Some associations also collect dues or assessments to fund ongoing maintenance and improvements within the neighborhood.

Residents living within an HOA-managed community are generally required to follow the association’s rules and may have opportunities to participate in meetings, elections, and community decisions. HOA regulations and services can vary by neighborhood, so residents are encouraged to review their community’s governing documents for specific information.

Homeowners can identify their HOA by checking the following.

  • Closing documents from home purchase
  • Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions
  • Property title
  • Direct mail from the HOA or management company
  • Online HOA directories (if maintained by the association)

The City of Broken Arrow does not manage HOA rosters, but many HOAs voluntarily register for communication updates.
