The Citizens Engagement Academy is a unique opportunity for residents to gain a deeper understanding of how local government works and how decisions are made in our community. This structured educational program is designed to increase transparency, strengthen community connections, and encourage meaningful participation in City government.

Through interactive sessions led by City staff and leadership, participants will learn about the services, operations, and processes that keep our city running every day. Whether you're interested in becoming more involved in your community, serving on a board or committee, or simply learning more about how your City operates, the Citizens Engagement Academy provides valuable insight and firsthand experience.

The program is offered in two parts:

Program A: Introduction to City Government

Fall Session (6 Weeks)

This foundational course provides an overview of municipal government, including how the City is governed, how decisions are made, and the essential services provided to residents. Participants will gain a better understanding of the roles of elected officials, City staff, and the departments that serve the community.

Program B: City Operations in Depth

Spring Session (6 Weeks)

Building on the introductory course, this session takes a closer look at City operations, departmental functions, service delivery systems, and the decision-making processes that support daily operations. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how departments work together to serve residents and plan for the future.
