The City of Broken Arrow is making significant improvements to streets throughout the community.
This Broken Arrow in Motion update begins on Houston, also known as 81st Street. With the widening project from Olive to Aspen, traffic has shifted to the south side, allowing Becco Construction to install storm sewer lines and curb and gutter on the north side. This $4.6 million project is funded by the 2018 General Obligation Bond.

Continuing on Houston, the widening project from 9th Street (also known as Lynn Lane) to Old Highway 51 is moving forward. A new 12-inch water line has been installed, and temporary widening on the south side is now complete. With these steps finished, traffic is shifting to the south for storm sewer work on the north side. The dirt work has begun for permanent widening, and completion remains on track for early 2027.
Next, turning to Aspen Avenue, a five-lane widening project is underway in three phases. Two intersections—Aspen and Jasper, and Aspen and Tucson—are currently under construction. At Aspen and Jasper, the contractor is finishing the concrete work in the northwest corner, with asphalt to follow. At Aspen and Tucson, the subgrade work is underway in the southwest corner. Construction at Jasper is expected to finish this fall, and Tucson will follow soon after. Additionally, the widening of Aspen Avenue from Tucson to Jasper is expected to go out to bid this summer. Construction will begin in the fall once the intersection work is complete.
Moving west, on County Line Road, here’s a quick update on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation project between Omaha and Albany. The water line installation is now complete, and road crews are preparing to begin work to widen this mile to five lanes and to build a new bridge at the north end.
Heading downtown to the Rose District, on South Main Street, pavement milling and overlay are finished from the railroad tracks to Houston Street. Next, contractors will complete the striping. Parking spaces from Houston Street to East Mason Drive have now been repaved, and the Utilities Department continues water line replacement from Mason Drive south toward Washington Street.
Finally, at the Lynn Lane and Washington Intersection Improvement project, the intersection is being expanded to improve traffic flow. The contractor is preparing to lay the asphalt soon. Please use caution when traveling through the area to help ensure the safety of our construction workers.
