U.S. News & World Report has once again named Broken Arrow as one of the best places to live in the country.

In previous rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked the city as the Best Place to Live in Oklahoma, the 12th Best City to Live in the U.S., and the 55th Best Place to Retire in the nation. In its latest poll, the media organization selected Broken Arrow as the 6th Best Medium-Sized City in the U.S.

The purpose of their rankings is simple. They are designed to help readers make informed decisions about where to reside.

Cities included in the rankings are evaluated using data from Applied Geographic Solutions, the U.S. Census Bureau, the Department of Commerce, the Federal Reserve, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis, as well as state and local sources.

The report says approximately 118,111 people live in Broken Arrow, of whom 27 percent are under 20. Thirteen percent are ages 25-34, 14 percent are 35-44, and 23 percent are 45-65. They estimate that about 17 percent of Broken Arrow’s population is over 65.

The survey considered what it’s like to live in Broken Arrow, including the cost of living, the weather, and transportation. It also examined the city’s job market, where unemployment was 2.6 percent, below the national average of 4.5 percent.

U.S. News & World Report cited Broken Arrow’s median household income at $88,112 and an average commute to work of just over 20 minutes. Home prices are affordable as well, with the median home value at $251,667 and the median rental prices at a little over $1,000 a month.
