Broken Arrow has a new Special Events Liaison

Post Date:10/29/2025 10:05 a.m.

Krista Mooney-Shea has been named as the new Special Events Liaison for the City of Broken Arrow. In this role, she will serve as a resource and primary contact for individuals or groups hosting events, and will work with city leadership to plan, promote, organize and schedule various city programs and activities.

City Manager Michael Spurgeon expressed his appreciation of Mooney-Shea’s commitment to the City of Broken Arrow.

“As Broken Arrow continues to grow, one of the challenges for our leadership is maintaining that small town community experience for our residents,” Spurgeon said. “Krista brings an enthusiasm and love for the city that can’t be taught. I am confident that she will do an excellent job in representing the City of Broken Arrow to our citizens, event sponsors, and regional partners who contribute to the various events that make our city a dynamic place to live, work and play.”

Mooney-Shea has a public service background, and experience in the hotel, retail, and insurance industries.

"The combination of Krista's passion to serve and her experience working with event organizers, will continue to enhance the sense of community that Broken Arrowan's are known for,” said Community Development Director Rocky Henkel. “I'm excited for Krista and the opportunities for special events to grow with the community."

For Mooney-Shea it is a return to work for the city that she calls home. She and her family have lived in Broken Arrow since 1993, and she served as a Communications Training Officer for the Broken Arrow Police Department for more than eight years from 2004 to 2012.

“I come from a public service family, and so it’s in my heart to be in public service,” Mooney-Shea said. “I’m grateful for the eight years I had in dispatch. It gave me life experiences that I would never have had, and now I can see where all of this fits together. It’s like full circle.”
