In this August 2025 Broken Arrow in Motion update, we have updates on Events Park, the Arrow Forge Innovation District, the Houston Street Widening Project, and more!
At Events Park, the infrastructure improvements are continuing, which are a part of the City’s partnership with Venu for the amphitheater project. The contractor, Crossland Heavy Construction, has finished paving Parking Lot 3, and now their crews are working on the landscaping and the lighting for all three parking lots. They are also building a new storage facility at the park. They’ve already completed the concrete pad, and now they‘re working on its parking and storage areas. Plus, the crew is creating a lighted pedestrian trail that will go through the middle portion of Events Park and will connect the south side of the pond to the north side. With these infrastructure improvements, Events Park will provide an even better experience to park enthusiasts, concertgoers, and visitors of Challenger Sports Complex.
Staying with parks, the first installation of sod is complete at the Highland Park Rugby Field in east Broken Arrow. Now the crew is waiting for the first mow to finish up the sod. Rugby may be a game of two halves, but this new field is already more than halfway finished!
Now, over to the Houston Street Widening Project, from Garnett Road to Olive Avenue. The contractor, Becco Construction, has transitioned to the north side of the intersection. They are also working on sidewalks from Sweetgum Street to Garnett Road. At this time, northbound traffic can turn right, but it cannot go straight through the intersection. Westbound traffic can only go straight through the intersection. Eastbound traffic can turn right or go straight through. The intersection is closed to southbound traffic at this time.
Next, here’s an update on the voter-approved gateway marker signs that are being installed around the city. As we said last month, all the primary signs have been installed, and the landscaping and lighting are finished. Now, installation is about to begin on the 14 smaller tertiary signs.
Let’s discuss some water infrastructure projects that are ongoing.
Over on the corner of New Orleans Street and Lynn Lane, work on the new Elevated Water Storage Tank continues. The contractor made the final concrete pour at the top of the tower last week. Now the welders are on site, welding the tank sections to the ground. This project is progressing nicely, but still has a way to go, and it is expected to finish up next summer.
Next, at the corner of Lynn Lane and Kenosha, the rehab effort on the Tiger Hill Water Storage Tank is nearing completion. The contractor is installing protection to prevent erosion and will soon start disinfecting the tank. Then, the tank will be filled and water quality testing performed. The tank should be fully operational again sometime this month.
Over at the Melinda Park subdivision, the water and sewer installations have been fully completed, including concrete work on the sidewalks and driveways. Now the contractor is repairing the fences and installing sod to restore the area for the residents. All of the work in the subdivision should be complete by mid-August.
At Arrow Forge Innovation District, the contractor, Cherokee Pride Construction, is continuing the road work in the district. They will begin installing the curb, gutter, and sub-grade this week. All of the sewer and water lines have already been installed and tested. And they will start water sampling next week.
Next, the Oak Crest subdivision water line is progressing nicely. The project is 70 percent complete and on schedule. The sewer line, however, is posing a challenge. It is very deep and is taking more time than expected. We appreciate the residents for their patience as this improvement project continues.
