The Broken Arrow Police Department is thrilled to announce the 19th annual Back to School Bash, set to take place at The Assembly, located at 3500 W New Orleans St. This highly anticipated event will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
“We'll be handing out school supplies from backpacks to pens and pencils. Anything generally any student will need to go back to school,” stated Officer Ramirez with BAPD. “We'll also be offering free haircuts, immunizations, and Child ID kits. There's going to be about 50 vendors there that are going to be free completely to the public.”
The Back to School Bash has become a staple for many families preparing for the new school year.
“This just gives everybody, I think, in the community an opportunity to send their kids to school feeling confident that they have what they need,” Ramirez said. “Just eliminating that burden financially off of the parents. Giving them an opportunity to connect with us, connect with the community, and our vendors as well.”
Officer Ramirez also expressed his personal enthusiasm for engaging with the community and being a role model for children and their families.
“I know personally I probably wouldn't be starting a career as a patrol officer if I didn’t have those interactions back then when I was a kid myself,” he said. So, being able to potentially hand a sticker out or just give a kid a high five knowing that someday down the road that might mean something to them and encourage them to potentially get into law enforcement themselves.” For more information about this event and future activities, please visit the Broken Arrow Police Department's Facebook page.
