Officers Arrest Five in Car Burglary Shooting

Post Date:05/20/2025 3:33 p.m.
We want to recognize our officers for their quick response to a recent auto burglary call. Their teamwork helped bring a dangerous situation to a safe resolution.

On May 17th, we responded to a report of a vehicle burglary near the 800 block of South 75th Street. The victim ran after the suspects, attempting to stop them as they continued checking door handles on nearby vehicles. He briefly grabbed one suspect by the shirt before letting go. As he turned to return home, one of the suspects fired multiple shots at him from a vehicle. Thankfully, the victim was not injured.

Officers immediately searched the area, and Sergeant Sherman located the suspect vehicle just minutes later. We arrested four juveniles, ranging in age from 14 to 17, and one adult, Antonio Renteria, on various charges including Shooting with Intent to Kill, Third-Degree Burglary, Knowingly Concealing/Possessing Stolen Property, and Public Intoxication. Inside the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, spent shell casings, stolen property, and open containers of alcohol. All five individuals live outside of Broken Arrow.

Great work, Sergeant Sherman, Officer Q. Smith, and all our officers involved with this incident.

We want you to know this: we will always act swiftly and decisively to keep you safe. Your safety is our top priority.

These are arrests, not convictions.
