Aspen Avenue and Washington Street intersection lanes reduced for construction project

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for 7-10 days

Post Date:07/31/2020 1:30 p.m.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the Washington Street (E. 91st St. S.) and Aspen Ave. (S. 145th St.) intersection to accommodate the installation of a new 12-inch water line, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 5. The water line installation is a continuation of the project that started in early June.

Traffic control will be placed throughout the construction zone, and no left turns will be permitted through the construction zone.

This traffic flow configuration will be adjusted as the project progresses from east to west along Aspen Avenue. These traffic control measures will be in place for approximately 7-10 days to allow for the crossing of the waterline.

The lanes will then be reopened until the pavement section of the project is ready, which is scheduled to begin in late August to early September. At that time, this configuration of traffic control will once again be implemented through the pavement phase, which is expected to be completed in early 2021.
