City awards Detroit Street project

Detroit and 9th

Construction on a new road project along Detroit Street from 3rd Street to 9th Street (Lynn Lane) will begin in early January.

Funding for the project will come from the Fiscal Year 2019 Tulsa County Urban Community Development Block Grant.  The City awarded the project to Cherokee Pride Construction, INC.

The project includes asphalt street patches throughout, combined with overall milling and an overlay of the existing asphalt pavements.

New sidewalks along both the north and south sides of the roadway will be installed, and effected driveways will be removed and replaced along the way.

Additionally, approximately 483 linear feet of sanitary sewer work is to be relocated as a part of this project.

The total cost for completion will be $517,733.50, and a notice to proceed will be issued to Cherokee Pride Construction in early January with construction to commence immediately.

The contractor is expected to start with the sanitary sewer installation followed by sidewalk installation, storm sewer modifications, driveway removal, and replacement. Finally, the work will be completed with the mill and overlay. The project has a 90-calendar day construction timeline and is expected to be completed by early May 2020.
