To help reduce hunger in our community, Broken Arrow Public Schools (BAPS) is once again participating in a summer feeding program that provides meals to children age 18 and younger at no charge at various Broken Arrow school sites and locations.
All meals meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines and are prepared with a number of locally-sourced ingredients.
Meals are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service. Parents/caregivers can eat for $3.50 per meal at school sites only. Menus are subject to change.
According to a report by Feeding America, 17.2 percent of people in Oklahoma suffer from food insecurity. In Tulsa County alone, more than 102,000 struggle with hunger and nearly 37,000 of those are children. Throughout the summer months, when school is out of session and children do not have access to breakfast or lunch at their school site on a daily basis, these statistics only get worse.
