Trash service is also being evaluated as part of the City’s pilot programs. Our current system, with twice-a-week pickup using a plastic bag system, is unsustainable both economically and ecologically.
We believe the new model of recycling service and a cart – with once-a-week pickup – will ensure a continued high level of service while adding recycling benefits, if selected.
Here are details of trash/refuse services for the City’s two pilot programs:
2 cart pilot program
Participants will receive a black cart to place your trash/refuse in.
Trash will be picked up once a week on Thursday.
All household trash and yard waste (grass, leaves, sticks etc.) may be placed in the cart.
Please do not overload the container – weight limit of the cart is 330 lbs.
To prevent windblown debris and the collection of rainwater, the lid should be closed completely.
Do not put extra bags of trash on top or in front of cart. Try to fit all the trash in the cart. If you cannot do so, place them beside the cart on the curb.
1 cart pilot program
Participants will continue to use trash bags to dispose of trash/refuse as they currently do.
Trash will be picked up once a week on Friday.
All household trash and yard waste (grass, leaves, sticks etc.) may be placed in the trash bags.
