The Broken Arrow Fire Department Training Section consists of two divisions: suppression and EMS, both under the authority of the Deputy Chief of Training. Each division has oversight from one Major who supervises one corresponding training officer for a total of five personnel. The BAFD shares the training facility with the Police Department within a 20 acre complex. Classrooms are equipped with an array of modern audio and visual equipment as well as other effective teaching mediums.

The primary responsibility of the training section is recruit training and continuing education for the entire department. In 2007, BAFD hosted the first in-house fire academy and will have a regional training impact when all of the facilities have been completed. Construction was finalized in 2011 on a state of the art five story drill tower. It features exterior and interior stairwells, standpipe connections on each floor, and the capability to burn Class A materials on two separate floors. In addition, it will provide the BAFD the capability to train on various technical rescue evolutions. Also in 2011, the BAFD was the first department in North America to purchase a fire simulation tool that allows entire fire crews the ability to fight virtual building fires utilizing computer software.

Training is a critical aspect in the fire service. As Broken Arrow continues to grow, the dedicated staff along with the advanced training facility, will allow the Broken Arrow Fire Department to maintain the highest standards in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and fire protection.
